| Team MDUSA athletes Travis Cooper and James Tatum ready for 2013 Pan Am Weightlifting Championships® |
Team MDUSA athlete Elisabeth Akinwale on her way to the 2013 Crossfit Games® |
This years Pan American Championships will be held in Venezuela from June 22nd to June 30th. Two members of Team MDUSA will be representing the US at this competition, James Tatum and Travis Cooper.
Travis lifts in the 85kg class and is not only the top US lifter in that class, he is the overall #1 ranked US lifter on the team. Travis' best lifts of 152kg snatch and 192kg clean and jerk give him not only a chance of earning a medal, but the possibility of a gold in the clean and jerk.
James is the top 77kg lifter on the US team, and ranked #7 overall. This is James first international competition but with a 145kg snatch in training, has possibilities for a medal in the snatch. |
Elisabeth Akinwale has already placed 13th & 7th in the world respectively in the 2011 & 2012 Crossfit Games®, now Elisabeth has her sites set on the podium this year. At the North Central Crossfit® Regionals, Akinwale proved that she will be a contender for the title of “Fittest on Earth”. Winning the region with 5 of 1st place finishes out of 7 events (2 of which were event record times), Elisabeth has shown that her hard work & training are paying off.
Akinwale gained the attention of MDUSA after being approached by her coach, Rudy Nielsen of The Outlaw Way. We were not only impressed with her as an athlete and her incredible Olympic lifting skills, but also with her amazing character. Her dedication to her training and most importantly to her son was one that inspired us. We look forward to her continued journey at the 2013 Crossfit Games® in July 22nd - 28th. |
